We are a 10 days into our exciting Global Giving campaign and our annual Holiday Buddy Reader, Art and Sport Programme starts at Diepsloot Combined School this coming week and will run from Tuesday 26 June to Thursday 28 June 2018.
Fundraising through the Global Giving
online platform is open for another few days
$1 600 still needed
We are so appreciative of our donors. Thank you all! You are changing the lives of children in Diepsloot and making it possible for them to learn to read, write and spell.
Between now and 29 June we have an audacious goal to raise the balance of the $5000 needed in order for Edu Fun to become a permanent partner of Global Giving. Donations through Global Giving are quick, easy and secure to make with a credit card from anywhere in the world. And, we are excited to share, that donations through Global Giving are tax deductible in the UK and USA.
We have two very interesting stories to share. First, one of the largest gifts received to date ($250) was donated by someone who saw the link on Facebook and wasn't even directly sent a solicitation. Second, the aunt of a friend whose never been to Joburg or worked with Edu Fun in any way donated $100 because her niece (who has been here and came to school once) shared the link with her network. So please share the link with anyone and everyone!
Donations received since our last newsletter through afternoon of June 22, 2018 from the following donors:
Keren and Dennis Grant
Margaret E Tario
Ogechi and Chris Nunn
Holiday Sport, Art and Buddy Reader Programme
26 - 28 June 2018
Edu Fun, in Partnership with Read For Africa and St Peter's School will run the annual Holiday Programme at Diepsloot Combined School (DCS) from 8:30am to 1pm daily on Tuesday 26 June, Wednesday 27 June and Thursday 28 June 2018.
The programme aims to help DCS learners in grades 2 and 3 who are struggling with English literacy. By providing personalized support, we can make a tremendous impact on the students.
We are also still seeking cash donations as we've increased the number of learner from 75 to 90 this year. The cost to attend the programme equates to ZAR300 (approx. $22) per learner which can also be paid via the Global Giving Link. www.globalgiving.org/projects/teaching-africa-to-read
We appreciate any support you may wish to offer.
Thank you to all our usual volunteers who have signed up to attend, but who have also donated additional food and other items and have been helping out behind the scenes with packing, delivery, collecting, collating, shopping, sorting lists and name tags etc.
