Edu Fun is a volunteer-led, non-profit Public Benefit Organisation working with Diepsloot Combined School. Our main objective is to teach English to Grade 3 and Grade 4 students in a fun and interesting way. We also mend school uniforms and do basic health checks to identify potential problems with the children’s eyes and teeth.

Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required. There is always something volunteers can do to help. If you already have experience in teaching, nursing, sewing or fundraising, all the better!

Monday and Tuesday mornings during term time. We’re usually finished by lunchtime.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t come every week.

We meet outside Piatto Dainfern in the Valley Shopping Centre on Broadacres Drive and carpool to Diepsloot. The township is located 10 minutes away on the northern outskirts of Johannesburg. The Combined School is located very close to the edge of Diepsloot, just off the R511, so it’s quick and easy to get to. See map.

Diepsloot is a poor area and local resources are limited. Classes at the school are very large and English is not the first language of their teachers. We aim to help the children with reading, writing and speaking English, in small groups, so that a lack of the English language will not be a barrier in their future lives.

How Can You Help?

We are in constant need of volunteers to assist with our various activities at the school. Even if you can’t help in person, you can make a valuable contribution by donating books, clothes, food or money. So why not come and join our group of volunteers from all around the world? A few hours of your time will make a real difference to lots of young lives. You’ll find it’s fun and rewarding, too!
